If you want to further develop your role as a leader, it helps to first get an accurate picture of your personality structure. A personality typology can provide a first approximation. You can place yourself in a ‘grid’ and thus gain a better understanding of your specific behavioural patterns as a leader.<\/p>\n

Personality typology is a map for orientation<\/h2>\n

We find it important to point out that the use of typologies should never be about right or wrong. You do not get one description of a person that can explain every behaviour of that person. Rather, the result of a typological evaluation should be understood more like a map that gives you clues to better understand yourself and others. Accept that you will never know exactly why others behave the way they do. You can only guess.<\/p>\n

Our motive structure: it’s all in the mix<\/h2>\n

The BMP is based on David McClelland’s basic motives, the best-studied sociogenic motives. Like many other motive tests, the BMP also measures which of the six motives are most likely to positively stimulate a person’s actions. The special feature of the BMP is that it also measures which of the motives trigger active avoidance.<\/p>\n

And as far as the motives of each individual person are concerned: it’s the mixture that makes the difference – on the one hand, this mixture makes us unique, and on the other, it makes us willing to act in certain directions and motivates us.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Motives are the inner drivers<\/h2>\n

    Motives are the inner, enduring driving forces that make certain behaviours attractive. For one or more motives to lead to an action, a suitable situation, a corresponding incentive, is required. When the two come together, we speak of motivation.<\/p>\n

    Shaping leadership<\/h2>\n

    The MDA shows four fields. The effective attitude for leadership in dynamic situations is the formative leadership attitude. It consists of personal authority on the one hand and assumption of responsibility on the other; responsibility for employees, for the team and for the company.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Development opportunities<\/h2>\n

    You can also create a team profile with MDA. How far apart are the team members in their attitudes to the team task? What can be done to bring the team together. The better everyone in the team works with a good attitude and full energy for the task, the better the results will be.<\/p>\n

    The six sub-factors show the developmental path towards strengthening one\u2019s own attitude. Do you need to strengthen your personal authority, e.g. by working towards greater assertiveness? Or do you need more empathy in order to be able to adjust better to the team? The result of the MDA shows the need for action. In the consultation process, the appropriate development proposals are then drawn up.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Attitudes are fundamental to our behaviour: they describe the tendency to evaluate situations in a certain way. An attitude influences the behaviour in the respective situation.
